Dogs wearing hats and jackets

Stuart Murdoch - Glasgow ABC 16.1.06

We just got back from Glasgow. It was all very exciting. It's gonna be hard to write about it all actually. The shows were excellent, as was the rest of Glasgow.

I got to meet Bobby and Stevie (who I smooched) at the after party

The whole thing was very exhausting so I'll have to write about it over a few different posts.

For now, here are all my photos and here are Janines photos.

On the way back it was snowing in Tokyo

Forgive me for this badly written post, I'm feeling rather ill from a lack of sleep and having picked up a rather nasty cold.

I'll post stories and links to more photos and video soon.

The title of this post is taken from the last song on the new album - Mornington Crescent. It's named after a station in London so we visited it too...

I'll lend you two hundred quid ... for a flight across the ocean

We're off to Glasgow this afternoon for the sole purpose of seeing Belle & Sebastian at the first three shows (in their hometown!) of their 2006 tour.

We're first getting a flight from Miyako-jima to Osaka (and stay for a night), then fly from there to Tokyo and straight onto another flight direct to London (and stay for a night), then we'll go to Oxford for a night, back to London and fly to Glasgow (and stay for 5 nights), then fly back to London and get straight on another direct flight back to Tokyo (and stay for a night), then get a flight to Osaka, then another back to Miyako-jima.

It probably isn't much but I know it's gonna kill me. I'm still enjoying this new album a lot, every song is brilliant. I'm sure we'll both be taking lots of photos, but we probably wont upload any until we get back on the 20th.

I've spent a sleepless night (and day) burning goodies and filling both PSP's with audio and video. I had ideas for this post during the night but I seem to have forgotten them all, it's ended up rather boring. Sorry about that. Hopefully I'll have some sort of stories to tell in the next few weeks.

Since I haven't posted in a while, and this one's not too fancy, here are some shots from a few weeks ago:

Christmas lights at the German village, long exposure.

The sunset on christmas day.

Janine also has a bunch of shots from christmas and new years eve.

The title of this post is taken from one of my favourite songs - You Made Me Forget My Dreams.

The Life Pursuit

I acquired a copy of the new Belle & Sebastian album yesterday and dang it's good! It's 5am and I'm still listening to it, for at least the 10th time (I stopped counting at 10). I'll not go on about it though, I know you've either already had enough of my Belle & Sebastian obsession or you will have once I've gone all the way to Glasgow just to see them in January...

We now have tickets for the first 3 shows and tickets for all the flights except the London-Glasgow-London ones.

So, the other reason I'm writing this post:

Did I mention I acquired a copy of the new Belle & Sebastian album 'The Life Pursuit'? Well I did. It's very bloody good. I'm listening to it on the headphones shown above, because it's very late at night / early in the morning and this extreme volume would surely wake our friendly neighbours. I bought these headphones (Panasonic HJE70) in Akihabara a few weeks ago for ¥9800 ($108AUD). I'm very happy with them. There were some Shure headphones in the same shop for something like $500AU, they were in-ear type too!

I suppose I really should write a big post about going to Tokyo too, but not right now. I've just mostly finished a big cd-rom project which has been going for months so forgive me for not posting much. Then again, what do you care! The audience for this site is probably about a total of 2, including me. Meh.

Goodnight.

PSP headset

This photo came up in my RSS feed from www.gizmodo.com but interestingly it's not on the site. I'm not sure what to make of that. But anyway, it makes me think the possibility of turning the PSP into a mobile phone or at least audio/video IM is getting closer. I reaaaally hope this thing isn't for the sole purpose of playing "SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs Fireteam Bravo" as suggested in this Gizmodo story.
